Otres beach was wonderful - family friendly and quiet and our hotel was on the water. Gorgeous!

While there we opted for what we hoped would be a day trip to Koh Rong - the beautiful, party island about 25 km off the coast. However the speed boat promising to be there in 40 minutes was cancelled and the slow boat was late but the only option for the day. We hopped on and were told it would take 1.5 hours, but with the rough seas it took 3 hours and it was scary. We were passing cargo ships and getting knocked around. When we got there I felt terrible but decided to ignore it and instead ordered the Tom Yum soup with barracuda and a beer for lunch - which turned out to be a very big mistake. I got quite sick - projectile vomiting everywhere - so bad that I couldn't travel back that day. Fortunately we found a flea-bag hotel with nets and a fan available for the night! :-) While I felt horrible, it was short-lived and the girls and Jeff had a blast - swimming in the ocean, watching a night fire hippie show and some tight rope walkers.

Sihanoukville is quite a busy town and filled with more people wanting to sell you something, whereas Otres Beach is very quiet and clean. We had a few great masseuses walking the beach offering foot massages (which were wonderful!), and people selling bracelets (which the girls liked). The vendors kept their distance unless we seemed very interested.
