October 27, Lobuje

October 27 we left Dingboche for Lobuje which is at 4930 meters. Because October is the height of the tourist season we were worried that we would not find lodging so when we got to Lobuje we immediately inquired at the first hut which turned out to have room and be a complete dump! We were the only westerners there - it was the sherpa motel. It was cold and smoky from all the cigarrettes they were consuming. The floors creaked and shifted, and the entire inside had been covered with plastic to keep the walls from falling in.
