October 25-26, Dingboche

We left Tengboche late which actually might have been in our favor as the icy road to Dingboche had a little more time to thaw. Actually at the time we thought we were going to Pheriche which is another small town on the opposite side of a ridge, but as it turned out going to Dingboche first was better.
The trek was a slippery and somewhat scary decent down folllowed by again an uphill and a few traverses. Shortly after arriving in Dingboche it started snowing. It was a very cold night. Our hotel had windows on 3 sides which made it even colder and the water in our water bottles froze.
We spent 2 days in Dingboche to acclimatize (Dingboche is at 4410 m). 10/26 we day hiked out to Chhukung which basically followed the valley out in front to Everest, Island Peak (6189 m), and Ama Dablam. It was a beautiful hike and day. On the way we both decided that day hiking was much easier than what we were doing, carrying not only all our own gear, but excessive amounts of gear, that we agreed to leave a bag to lighten our load.
