Father's Day Baseball Game

We celebrated Father's day with a Fukuoka Softbank Hawks baseball game.  It was really fun, and even though I don't know who they were playing nor the final score it seems that no one knew either.  Baseball games in Japan are definitely more for entertainment than watching the athletes.  Most of the cheers would be considered quite distracting.  In addition, the pitchers are warming up on the field as the game is in session.  It was fun and noisy game.  We all enjoyed sending off balloons at the 7th inning stretch - a common Japanese baseball tradition.

Morgan's 10th Birthday

It's hard to believe Morgan is already 10.  She really wanted to invite her whole class, and because she had changed classes this year everyone really in the 4th grade we opted for a movie party.  June 1st starts typhoon season in Japan and from experience it can be wet and miserable.  Morgan picked the movie, the Greatest Showman, which is an excellent historical fiction musical about Barnum Bailey.  It's got a number of good messages throughout plus an amazing soundtrack and choreography.  Morgan had 26 of her friends come with their siblings and family.  All 64 cupcakes Jeff baked (that's a labor of love - as he can only bake 6 at a time in our tiny toaster over) were devoured!  We had pizza, popcorns, and goodie bags of candy.  Afterward we came home for Morgan to open all her presents!   It was a great day and memorable decade birthday.  Next she get an ID and can walk to and from base by herself!

Birthday presents from Granny Ann, and Jeff icing the 64 cupcakes and Morgan's personal cake

One of the personalized slides added to the movie; we also had a Minions Happy Birthday and ended with a collage of Morgan's cake eating photos over the years

Morgan also got a new bike with handbrakes and gears from us (which she rode as soon as she got it!), and a custom handmade solid wood jewelry cabinet with full length mirror compliments of Jeff
