Alaska by RV
We had an awesome 2-week RV vacation in Alaska between Japan and San Diego job assignments. With COVID, it was the perfect way to socially distance and be able to explore the beautiful State and National Parks. We arrived in Anchorage with a negative COVID test result in hand, which allowed us to roam without quarantining.
Our basic itinerary was as follows:
* Homer - 2 nights at beach front campsite
* Seward - 3 nights at Military resort (highlight - Marine Mammal tour and Harding Icefields hike)
* Eklutna Lake - sea kayaking
* Scenic pull-out along a river
* Talkeetna - 2 nights cute art town
* Denali Savage River campground - 2 nights - inside National Park (whitewater rafting)
* Palmer - day trip to Mantasuka Glacier
* Hatcher Pass - hikes to alpine lakes
* Palmer
* Anchorage - museum downtown
It was an active and fun trip with 50 miles in hiking logged and lots of wildlife spotted - bear, moose, caribou, eagles, breaching whales, puffins, beaver....
Now I'm seriously thinking it would be very fun owning a small trailer to be able to be in nature with a comfy bed, heat/AC, shower, coffee and kitchen - I must be getting soft. :-) We all had a great time.
