Milan - a big, beautiful city
After touring Florence in AM we headed out to Milan in early afternoon trying to avoid the hottest part of the day - 2-4 PM. We arrived at another cheap option we had pre-booked with parking near PT into the city which turned out to be a total dive. Supposed 4 stars - Jeff and I were thinking they forgot the decimal or maybe it's 4/5 of a one star! But it did have AC, breakfast and parking and again was cheap - 55 EU! The trolley into town took about 20 minutes and wasn't as frequent - but still we saw the sights.
We visited the downtown main square and saw the huge famous church. We walked around a lot of the fancy shops which were full of people. We also even witnessed blatant shop-lifting in a grocery store and reported it, which had me freaked out someone would want his revenge - typical BIG CITY!
Leaving we hopped back on the bus #2 which after a few minutes we realized was heading the wrong way. We thought that would be a nice overview of the city until it got stuck on the line behind a broken-down tram at which point we happily hopped off and caught another one going the right direction.
Milan is said to have as many banks as Florence does churches and that's true! Definite financial center.
