Morgan's 9th Birthday Party

Morgan had her 9th birthday party at the bowling alley and it was a huge success!  Two hours of bowling, eating pizza, grilled cheese, veggies and ice cream cake, and running around with her friends.  Here are some pictures of the fun day!  Hard to believe Morgan is in her last year of single-digits!

Memorial Day in Takechiho Gorge

We spent a night glamping in a cabin in the woods just outside Takechiho gorge.  It would have been a perfect place for a quiet book club retreat, but not as great for kids as the loft cabin had huge openings and the ladder up was difficult to balance on.  But there was a kitchen, private bathroom and reasonable so we were happy to not have to dig up all our tent supplies.  The kids loved it!

Takechiho gorge was pretty but extremely small compared to Yosemite or the grand canyon.  We are happy to have gotten out and it made for a nice get-away.

Riptide Swim Meet

Bella had her first swim meet and loved it!  She was the youngest (6) on both teams, and had to swim with 8 and unders which included Morgan.  They both swam 25 meters of each stroke against the Iwakuni team.  Morgan came in first in all four events (including beating all the boys times!).  Ribbons were given for the first 3 places, and there were two heats of the events.  Bella is fast and got a 3rd in fly, 3rd in freestyle and 2nd place in backstroke.

There was so much cheering, I thought for sure the girls would lose their voices.  They had a blast and though Iwakui's team had 3 times the swimmers our team narrowly won.

Great experience and no DQ's!  Bella's two hand touches for fly and breast stroke, and staying on her back the entire time were perfect.  Both girls also have wonderful dives - Jeff's been working with them on that.
